Placement Process and Course Portfolio Results
Entry Level Writing Requirement
The University of California requires all undergraduate students to fulfill the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) within a limited timeframe. This is one of the undergraduate degree requirements. Students may fulfill the requirements with a qualifying test score or college composition course prior to their enrollment at UC San Diego.
Writing Placement Process
Students who have not met the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement must complete the Writing Placement Process (WPP) before the beginning of their first quarter at UC San Diego.
AWP offers a range of lower and upper division writing courses to help students master the critical thinking, reading, and writing skills that they will use at the university and in their professional lives.
Undergraduate students must fulfill the ELWR within a limited timeframe. The ELWR-fulfilling courses also have unique policies regarding passing grades, GPA, and course repeat.
