Writing Support

AWP Embedded Writing Mentor Program

The Embedded Writing Mentor Program places undergraduate student mentors in AWP classes in order to provide students with one-on-one writing support. If your class is assigned a mentor, you will be required to meet regularly with your mentor who will individualize instruction so that it meets your specific writing needs.

Embedded writing mentors are capable writers who have been trained to understand the demands of AWP courses and help you meet those demands. The mentors can work with you to address a range of challenges, including develop good topics, construct strong and interesting questions and claims, organize and support their arguments, and craft clear and coherent sentences and paragraphs. They will not proofread your papers, but they will help you locate and address problems with grammar or style.

The Writing Hub

The Writing Hub, part of the Teaching + Learning Commons, supports all writers on campus - every writer, any project - and promotes writing as a tool for learning.  They are located on the lower level of Geisel Library.

OASIS

OASIS or the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services - provides individual tutoring and workshops in many subjects, including writing and language skills.
